Performing Arts

We've wrapped up another fun term of learning new skills to bringing and flexing our creative muscles in Performing Arts!
Prep:
Preps have made great progress in understanding music notation this term. They've explored ta, titi, and rest, learning to read the notes and clap or play along to different rhythms and melodies. They've also begun learning note names and using that knowledge t to play some short, familiar songs on the chime bars. It’s been exciting to see their confidence grow as they begin their journey towards reading music.
1/2:
Grade 1/2 students finished up their puppet show projects with impressive results. They’ve worked hard using their voices to bring characters to life and effectively convey different situations and stories. Their shows were full of humour and creativity, with many entertaining stories that made the whole class laugh.
3/4:
In Grade 3/4, students jumped into the world of children’s television. They created and performed their own segments, learning the importance of scriptwriting, and how tone of voice, language, and body language can be tailored to engage a specific audience. Their hard work paid off with fun, engaging, and educational performances ranging from teaching their audience how to sing a song, to teaching them how to play soccer, or draw an animal.
5/6:
Grade 5/6 students wrapped up the podcast episodes they began earlier in the year. They crafted engaging stories, using their voices and language to engage and entertain their target audiences. Additionally, they had a go at digital composition, designing musical intros that fit their podcast themes, showcasing both their creativity and technical skills.
It’s been a term full of growth, creativity, and collaboration, which will set students up perfectly for term 3 as we begin preparations for the Arts Extravaganza in Term 4!
