It’s been a vibrant and meaningful Term 2 at the Community Hub, filled with hands-on learning, special encounters, and exciting excursions.
Government House Kitchen Garden Program
A group of our women from our hub and Roxburgh Rise hub, had the incredible opportunity to visit the Government House and take part in their 4-week Kitchen Garden Program. Participants were fortunate to meet Her Excellency Professor the Honourable Margaret Gardner AC, Governor of Victoria. They also explored the beautiful gardens, learned about the history of the Government House, and enjoyed some time in the kitchen where they cooked some delicious food using fresh produce harvested from the Kitchen Garden. It was truly a memorable and enriching experience that combined learning, wellbeing, and community connection.
Learn to Swim for Women
Our popular Learn to Swim program continued this term, offering women a supportive and private environment to build water confidence and develop swimming skills. The program not only promotes health and safety but also strengthens friendships and community among participants.
Hume City Council's Sorry Day Event
To mark National Sorry Day, we joined Hume’s CC at their special event. Families participated in activities that deepened understanding of Aboriginal history and culture, and helped them engage with the meaning of the day through storytelling and craft. It was a powerful reminder of the importance of reflection and reconciliation.

Reptile Encounter Incursion for playgroup
Our playgroup families were treated to a fascinating Reptile Encounter incursion this term. The children had a chance to see, touch, and learn about various native Australian animals in a safe and educational setting. The experience sparked curiosity and joy, and created a lovely opportunity for families to engage and learn about Australia's unique animals.
We’re looking forward to more swimming in Term 3, with new participants joining in. We’re also excited to launch a new Basic Computer Skills class to support adults in building confidence with technology—an essential skill for daily life, learning, and employment.
Wishing all our families a safe and restful holiday break – we look forward to seeing you again in Term 3! - and stay warm!!
