New School Mural Celebrates Culture, Language, and Belonging

We’re excited to share the completion of a beautiful new mural at our school—one that tells a powerful story of connection, culture, and place.
As part of our school's Embrace Place learning objective, this mural was created to ensure our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students feel seen, valued, and deeply connected to our school. We want all of our Indigenous students to know: you belong here.
The mural, painted by local artist and founding parent Chris Scott, brings the vibrant natural world of Central Australia to life. Featuring native flora and fauna, the artwork is rich with colour and meaning. What makes it even more special is the inclusion of the local Arrernte language—each animal, plant, and landscape element is labelled with its Arrernte name, grounding the mural in the land and culture it represents.
By making language and culture visible in our everyday spaces, we hope to inspire all students to learn more about the country we live and learn on. The mural isn’t just artwork—it’s a learning tool, a celebration of culture, and a reminder that schools thrive when everyone feels they belong.
Thank you to Chris Scott from Brushcraft for his incredible work and continued connection to our community. His mural is a gift to our school that will be cherished for generations to come.
