A few weeks ago Erin Bartleton and I were announced as joint winners of the Sir John Monash awards. We received the Sustainability award and then were awarded the overall winners of the Sir John Monash Leadership award. While we are humbled (and a little taken aback) to receive the recognition for the work we have done we wouldn’t have received these awards without the support of all of our parent community.
The support for Nude Food has been much appreicated and the decrease in rubbish around the school is significant and often commented on by visitors. Our students also deserve recognition for helping us in our efforts, led by our Sustainability captains Elvin and Ellie, our Year 6 Sustainaiblty monitors and the Waste Warriors from each class who assit with composting.
We have also this week received notification that we are only a couple of minor tasks away from being certified as a Five-Star Resourcesmart School. Our next step has been a long time coming but we are getting closer to finally plumb the water tanks and connect them to the toilets. Next year our plan is to invest in Solar Panels which again has been a long term goal that we are now in a position to put in place.
Many of you will open your letter box to see a front page photo of myself and Erin in the Monash Bulletin. You may also see two familiar (and embarrassed) faces on bollards around the City of Monash over the next 12 months.
Thank you once again to our wider school community for your continued support in our efforts to educate our students in Sustainable practices.
Today we hosted our second Walk to School day as another part of our effort to be more sustainable and look after our enviornment. A big thank you to everyone who took part.
Congratulations to Darius Asef who was randomly selected as a winner for our last Walk to School event two weeks ago.
Darius was very excited to recieve a Gift Card to spend on whatever he wants!
Congratulations also to today's winner Erica Dong- who will also recieve a Gift Card.
On Thursday October 17th Mrs Jansen and two students, Jason Ng and Audrey Lim (both from Year 6), attended the Maths Talent Quest awards ceremony at RMIT in Melbourne.
They were both awarded High Distinctions for their submissions to the Quest this year.
This is a great achievement and we are very proud of both Jason and Audrey and all the students from our school who entered in the MTQ this year.
Matthew’s entry was entitled “Cost of Living Crisis’
Audrey’s entry was entitled ‘How much does it cost to raise a child per month’
