VHAP Masterclass

Wheelers Hill PS recently hosted two exciting VHAP Masterclass sessions in the OSHC room! Our students were joined by some friends from neighbouring schools, and together they had a great time participating in enrichment and extension classes. It was a fantastic opportunity to learn, grow, and make new connections!

A huge thank you to Mr. Okita, our amazing enrichment and extension teacher, for running and facilitating such a wonderful experience. 👏 And of course, well done to all our students who were involved—you all did an incredible job! Keep up the great work! 🌟

Your Support Makes a Difference: Parent Contributions for 2025

As we look ahead to the 2025 school year, we are reaching out to kindly ask for your continued support through the Parent Contributions, which are now open on Compass.

As you know, while the Department of Education provides funding for a basic standard of curriculum delivery, the resources required to maintain the high-quality education programs, facilities, and school grounds we all value so much come from additional contributions made by families. Parent payments are what allow us to go beyond the bare minimum and offer the programs and opportunities that truly make a difference for our students.

We are incredibly grateful for your generosity in the past, and we’re hopeful that you will continue to support our school in 2025. Your contribution is crucial—it helps fund everything from innovative classroom programs and essential resources to the upkeep of our school grounds, ensuring a safe and welcoming environment for everyone. Without this vital support, we may face difficult decisions, including reducing program offerings or scaling back on the maintenance that keeps our school running smoothly.

We have worked hard to ensure that the contribution amounts for 2025 are very similar to what they were in 2024, so we hope this makes it easier for families to continue their support. Your financial commitment helps us maintain the school as a place where our students can thrive, academically and socially.

Once again, thank you for your past contributions. We truly appreciate everything you do to help make our school a vibrant, dynamic place of learning. Together, we can ensure that the 2025 school year continues to be one where every child can achieve their best.

Classes and Teachers for 2025

Our teachers have begun the process of creating classes for 2025. Thanks to those parents that sent a request to myself earlier in the term. The teachers will consider these requests along with many other factors such as student behaviour, academic levels and other areas of need when creating these classes.

Tuesday 10th December is the whole school transition day. On this day the students will find out their teacher for next year, as well as who is in their class. Students will bring home a slip with their teachers name and the names of some friends in their class on that day.

Wheelers Hill Primary School will continue to have 28 classes in 2025. Four classes per year level.

Parents Association Disco

Please see the flyer below for an exciting upcoming event run by the Parents Association. More details are up on Compass. We hope you can come and enjoy a fun evening.

House Name Change

This week at assembly, we were thrilled to announce the new house names that will represent our local Indigenous culture. Each name reflects an important animal from the land around the school, and we couldn’t be more excited to share them with you!

After voting by both students and staff, and input from our school council, here are the final results:

🦘  Red House: Marram (Kangaroo)

🦅 Blue House: Bunjil (Eagle)

🐝 Yellow House: Murnalong (Bee)

🐢 Green House: Bundabun (Turtle)

These names not only represent local wildlife, but also represent community, and connection to country the school is upon. We are so proud of the input from everyone who voted and contributed to this process.

Next year, we will be introducing new signage around the school to proudly display these names, and we look forward to officially welcoming them in Term 1 with a special Welcome to Country ceremony. Stay tuned for more details!

Thank you again to everyone who participated in the voting process. Your voice matters, and we can’t wait to see how these new house names inspire our school spirit moving forward! 🎉👏

Some assemblies will still be run on the oval or the gym. If this is the case, a post will be put on Compass well before the date.
