Sami Bayly – Author Visit

Thanks to the generous sponsorship from Bengalla Mining Company, St. Joseph’s were lucky to welcome Sami Bayly onsite last Wednesday. Sami is a talented natural history illustrator/author.
An array of Visual Arts students and other interested young budding authors and illustrators joined the event.
Sami shared her books and techniques/ideas for illustrating and writing, and her love of weird and wonderful creatures. She explained to students how she finds the beauty and importance of all animals, regardless of their appearance, and loves to research and draw these animals in her beautifully presented books.
All students participated in a step-by-step drawing routine of a Dodo and were able to create some wonderful and unique artworks by the end of the session.
Opportunities like these, help to broaden the minds of our students and assist with the development of literacy and artistic skills. Sami’s presentation fostered students’ curiousity in the wonders of the animal world.
Thanks to Bengalla Mining Company for providing this worthwhile and beneficial event, to support the education of the students within our region. It’s important that rural students have access to this valuable learning experience.
