John XXIII Rowing Club
Dear Rowing Families
The wait is finally over! This week, our Year 7 students began their Learn to Row program, marking the start of an exciting new adventure on the water. Whether you are completely new to rowing or have had a glimpse of the sport before, this is your chance to dive in, build confidence, and learn what it takes to row as part of a team.
Over the next four weeks, you’ll be coached by our experienced rowing staff, who will introduce you to the fundamentals of boat handling, water safety, and rowing techniques. Each session is designed to help you develop the skills needed to master this fantastic sport, and more importantly, have fun while doing it!
Remember to be at the College bus shelter by 3:30pm in your sports uniform, ready to catch the bus to the College boatshed at Canning Bridge. Sessions will run from 4:00pm to 5:20pm, and students will be returned to the College bus shelter by 6:00pm. If you prefer to pick your child up from the boatshed, just let us know by email.
As always, we’ll monitor the weather closely, and if any sessions need to be cancelled for safety reasons, we’ll notify parents and guardians as soon as possible.
Our coaching team and I are thrilled to welcome the Year 7s onto the water, and we can’t wait to see how they progress over the coming weeks! Keep up the enthusiasm, and let’s make this an unforgettable start to your rowing journey!
