Learning and Teaching
Term 4 continues to fly past. Our students at St Louis never cease to amaze us with their kindness, understanding and things that they know and share.
This week we held our second orientation session for our Prep students. It is always an honour to welcome new families into our community and share the wonderful things we do. On Thursday I shared a pertinent quote with the 2025 Prep families which I would like to share with you. This quote beautifully encapsulates the spirit of education: “The best way to predict the future is to create it.” This quote by Peter Drucker reminds us that, together, we are shaping not only our children’s immediate experiences but also their futures.
At school, we strive to create an environment where curiosity is nurtured, and creativity flourishes. However, this is a partnership. You, as parents, lay the foundation for lifelong learning at home. Every question you answer, every story you tell, and every moment spent exploring the world together reinforces their love for knowledge. Encourage your children to ask questions and express their thoughts. Let them know that learning is not just about right or wrong answers but about the process of discovery. Share your own experiences with learning—both the challenges and the triumphs. This will show them that it’s okay to stumble along the way; what matters is the resilience and curiosity they develop. At school we encourage the ‘Aha’ moments - where every mistake we make is a learning opportunity.
As we continue to work together it is important to always keep communication open. Share your insights, your hopes, and your ideas. Your involvement makes a world of difference and shows your children that education is a shared journey. Remember, every time you engage in conversations about what they learned at school, ask about their day, or even read together at bedtime, you’re reinforcing the value of education and encouraging their growth.
