A message from Tami -Jo

Welcome back to Term 4

The year is starting to come to a close; assessments are being completed and transition starting to occur. I am sure that you have all started thinking about the holidays and Xmas.

One bit of advice for all parents over the holidays- do not fill your children’s days all day every day. Down time is important as is the experience of being bored and having to occupy themselves. This is another life-long skill.

Allow the children time to problem solve what to do next and have the expectation that they will and not allow yourself to do it for them.

You can see the work that is bring done on our new buildings. We have 18 new classrooms and 5 new specialist rooms. There will now be a Mandarin room and dedicated Performing Arts ad Art rooms. We also have a space set aside for PE for the younger students on inclement days.

End of Year Reports

Reports are currently being completed and they will be available on Wednesday 20th December.

Mobile Phone Ban

A reminder that the Department of Education has in place a mobile phone ban that requires students who bring mobile phone to school to have them switched off and securely put away during school hours.

The department is requiring all schools to ensure that this ban is in place and enforced form the start of the year. The ban applies to all government schools across the state.

By ensuring that mobile phones are kept away at recess and lunch times, students can interact with each other face to face, without distractions and social pressures that mobile phones can cause. I ask for the support of all our families, staff and students in continuing to support the implementation of this policy at school.

Our Mobile Phone policy is on our website.

Appropriate Behaviour

You will see when you enter the foyer next year that there will be DET signs reminding parents of their behaviour when they speak to the administration staff and/or teaching and support staff. Just like all other service industries, they deserve to be treated with respect. We acknowledge that situations can be frustrating but know that we are all here to do our best.

School Council

We held our last School Council Meeting for the year where we Samantha McDonald presented our 2024 budget in detail. We farewelled Shipra Sharma and Felicia Lee who have both been great advocates for the families and students.

Last Day of School

We finish for the year on Wednesday 20th of December at 12.30pm

Enjoy the last few days of school.2024 School
