Each of our Grade 3 to Grade 6 classes will perform an entertaining item as a group. Each Grade 6 student will be presented with a IB PYP completion certificate. A small number of class academic awards will also be presented to Grade 3 to Grade 6 students as part of the event.

Students are asked to arrive shortly after 5:30pm and be seated by 5:45pm. They are to enter the Auditorium, to sit in class groups for the evening. At the conclusion of the event, parents are asked to collect their children from their class teacher.

Auditorium doors will be open for family and friends to enter from 5:50pm and guest seating will be clearly labelled.

Photography at Celebration Events

We are aware that family and friends love to take photos of their children. We ask that you please do so from your seats or the aisles so as not to block the view of others.

It is very important, in the school setting, to respect other people’s privacy by only photographing your own children. Mrs Stromsoe, a staff member, will take photos of award winners for school records.

Connections Café

The Connections Cafe will be open on Wednesday and Thursday evening from 5:30pm for the Secondary and Primary Celebration events. We will have some hot pies, large sausage rolls, and toasted ham, cheese and tomato sandwiches available, as well as our usual range of hot/cold drinks, and snacks/biscuits.

Infant Celebration Afternoon

Our Kinder to Grade 2 students had a wonderful celebration assembly last week. Each class performed in front of their parents. Mrs Mahoney, our Head of Primary, addressed the students, teachers and parents and shared the ways Southern Christian College is special. Mrs Bennett, our Principal, read the students a story about the concept of perfection and how it relates to an achievable goal. The day was a special celebration, one that acknowledged the growth that our students have achieved over the past year. The students also thanked their teachers, teachers’ aides and parents for all they do to ensure they are always performing at their best.

Arcade Games

For their final assessment task within their Unit of Inquiry on Design and Function, our Grade 4/5 students created a variety of arcade games in groups of two to four students. The games were entertaining, educational and best of all, players could win tickets. Primary classes were invited to come and play arcade games at various times throughout the day. We have seen some very happy faces as students enjoyed time at the "Arcade" today.

Grade 6 Celebration Dinner

Our Grade 6 students enjoyed their end of year Celebration Dinner, hosted at school last Friday. The students and their parents enjoyed an evening of celebration as the students received awards and had a fun evening of activities planned with their friends.

2023 Primary Schools’ Triathlon Challenge

Last Friday Grade 3-6 students had the opportunity to compete against other schools in the Primary All Schools Triathlon Challenge South. We had 23 enthusiastic students involved either as an individual entry or as part of a team.

All students should be commended on their team spirit and positive attitude.  It takes a lot of courage to compete in a triathlon so they should all feel very proud of themselves.

Well done to the Grade 5 boys team consisting of Lewis Ivic, Quinn McCormick and Oscar who won their team event for the second year in a row! And congratulations to the Grade 4 girls team consisting of Jedidah Otto, Evie Devine and Josia Chodasewicz who came across the finishing line in 4th place!

Congratulations to everyone!
