Canberra Trip

Canberra Trip

Both Mr Scott and Mrs de Lacy's Grade 6 classes embarked on an unforgettable journey to Sydney and the heart of our Nation's capital, Canberra. The trip was nothing short of spectacular, filled with educational experiences, breathtaking sights, and the formation of lasting bonds among our students. The journey began with awe-inspiring visits to iconic landmarks in Sydney, including the world-renowned Sydney Opera House and the majestic Harbour Bridge. Students were captivated by the architectural marvels, standing in awe as they absorbed the rich history and significance of these symbols of Australia. A visit to Taronga Zoo in Sydney brought students closer to various unique animals. From reptile house, monkeys, and the seals, the zoo provided an opportunity for our young explorers to connect with the diverse and fascinating fauna from around the world. The experience was both educational and heartwarming, fostering a deeper appreciation for our extraordinary biodiversity.

The journey to Canberra was as exciting as the destination itself, thanks to our incredible bus driver, Dennis. His expertise and friendly demeanour made the long bus trip enjoyable for everyone. Laughter, chatter, and the occasional sing-along filled the air as the students bonded over shared experiences, creating a sense of camaraderie that would last throughout the trip.  One of the highlights of the trip was the visit to the Australian Mint, where students had the unique opportunity to witness the art of coinage. The interactive tour provided insights into the history of Australian currency, showcasing the intricate processes involved in minting coins. It was a hands-on experience that left our students fascinated and enriched.  A visit to the Australian Institute of Sport was a dream come true for our sports enthusiasts. From Olympic memorabilia to state-of-the-art training facilities, students gained valuable insights into the world of elite athletes. The interactive exhibits and engaging presentations inspired dreams of sporting greatness among our aspiring athletes.  Walking through the hallowed halls of Parliament House was a momentous occasion for our students. Witnessing Question Time in both the House of Representatives and the Senate added a layer of real-world relevance to their civics education. It was an eye-opening experience that deepened their understanding of the democratic process and the functioning of the Australian government.
