Mrs Bennett collecting Arcade tickets at the Grade 4/5 Aracade games display

From the Principal

I am sure I am not the only one who can’t believe it is December, that the year is drawing to a close. This week, we welcomed new students as part of our Primary Step-up Day and Year 7 Transition Day. Our Year 11 2024 students have enjoyed a special day, helping to prepare them for the excitement and challenges of the next two years. Congratulations to the Grade 4/5 students who created and displayed their Arcade games as part of their final assessment task within their Design and Function Unit of Inquiry. We look forward to our Secondary and Primary awards evenings. There will be a special edition of the newsletter on Friday, with highlights from these events. The final event for students for 2023 will be our annual Picnic Day on Friday.

Later in the newsletter, we are excited to introduce to you our 2024 Primary and Secondary leadership teams. Students have been appointed following written applications and interviews. I am confident this special group will contribute positively to the life of the College in the same way that our 2023 team has done.

As the year draws to a close, it will be time to farewell some beloved staff members. We farewell Mrs Denise Walter who will be retiring. Many students have worked with Mrs Walter as a Teachers’ Aide over the ten years she has been in the role, especially through the intensive MultiLit program. Each member of the staff has the deepest respect for her resilience and the way she has championed causes that are dear to her.

Mr Witcomb has been with the College for 3 years and has decided to pursue other pathways. I know many students who have had him for Outdoor Ed or QUEST have appreciated these experiences and we valued his contribution to the College Executive over that time, including as Acting Head of Secondary.

Mrs Robyn Stromsoe, our Executive Assistant, and her family will be moving to Brisbane. For many families, Mrs Stromsoe has been their first contact with the College as part of the enrolment process. We have all appreciated her balance of warmth and efficiency.

Mrs Emily Overton will start maternity leave as she awaits the arrival of her second child. We pray for good health, for the safe arrival of her precious child and that the year ahead will be a time for their growing family to create many happy memories.

On behalf of the College, I wish all our families a safe, refreshing, and blessed Christmas.

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit."

~ Romans 15:13
