Library News
End of the Year Thank You
We would like to thank families for their efforts to support their children in their reading and literacy growth in 2023.
So many families have made sure that students have a library bag each week to borrow books and return them the next week. We really appreciate all the work that goes into teaching our students about being responsible for the books they borrow and returning them so that others can enjoy the books too.
The support for our Scholastic Book Club has been very beneficial as we have been able to buy $766 worth of books for our students from the rewards points this year.
Many thanks also to families who have helped hunt for books which have been mislaid during the year and are now finding their way back to the Library. Our overdue book numbers have gone down significantly but we would love to have them all sorted before we break for the holidays this year.
Where’s Wally was found in the Years 3/4 area this week on the hunt for books to return. Where will he appear next? Our overdues are down to 196 books with many classes still to have Library during the week.
Christmas Stories
This week in Library, students have listened to the newest Matt Cosgrove picture book Dharma the Christmas Llama. We think Dharma is our Library spirit animal. Dharma wants to escape the busy Christmas preparations and find a quiet place to read but she saves the day delivering Christmas gifts when Macca the Alpaca is injured. Her solution is to share great books with all of the characters. May you find joy this Christmas to be like Macca, Christmas obsessed, or like Dharma, finding quiet moments to read. Books are a fantastic way to spread the cheer, being read to young ones or given as presents.
