This Sunday is the beginning of Advent. This week, our Three/Four Students led us in our first Advent Prayer Service. Students shared a beautiful prayer, gave out wreaths and candles and shared the work they had done in unpacking the words related to advent and scripture.
A prayer for Advent...
Dear Lord, please allow me to embrace Advent in the way the Church intends: as a way to prepare for Your arrival. May everything I do–every gift I send, every party I attend, every meal I share–remind me to prepare space in my heart for You. Amen.
As we approach the season of Advent we will prepare for Christmas by continuing with our tradition of the St Michael’s Giving Tree.
In past years we have been incredibly grateful for the generosity of our families as they contributed to our Giving Tree. The presents that were purchased by our school community were presented to St. Vincent de Paul on the evening of our school carols. With great joy and love, these gifts were then distributed to families less fortunate than ours. Through this simple act of kindness, it allowed us to live out our Gospel values and the vision of our school…” to be the human face of Jesus.”
You are able to donate:
There are boxes in the quadrangle near the staffroom door to place donations. We will be accepting donations until Tuesday December 5th. Thank you very much for your support of this student initiative.
