Principal's Report

Dear HPS Community,

Here we are at the final newsletter of the year!

I understand it has been a changing landscape in leadership at HPS over the past few years. I wish to thank the community for their warm welcome and support during my initial time as principal. I feel very connected to the school and community and look forward to a great year in 2024.

Year 6 graduation

Last night we gathered at Viewbank College to celebrate our Year 6 students completion of primary schooling. It was an auspicious occasion where we were able to focus on the achievements and success these students have had over the last 7 years.

Congratulations Year 6 students, you have a lot to be proud of and a lot to look forward to. Our whole school community wishes you all the very best for the future and hope you don't forget us. Teachers and staff are always happy and excited to catch up with past students and hear about what they get up to after leaving primary school.

Please join us for a final farewell assembly on Wednesday 20th December at 1.00pm, where we can say sayonara to our Year 6 cohort for one last time!

Thank you

There are many thank you's that need to take place at the end of a productive and successful year. Our school would not be as efficient or effective without the input, support and expertise of many parents and volunteers.

To our school councillors, thank you for your commitment and dedication to supporting our school. Your contributions have been greatly appreciated.

To our parent helpers and volunteers, thank you for your effort and time to support teaching and learning whether it be  in our classrooms, around the school or on excursions and camps. We value your input and look forward to welcoming you back next year.

To our wonderful students, thank you for the smiles, stories and sense of fun you bring to our school each and every day. You certainly make the school a vibrant and exciting place to be.

To our SAC staff, thank you for providing a fabulous service and caring and engaging environment to the students and families who come to before and after care. The way you interact with students and incorporate student voice and agency into your program is admirable.

To our 2023 student leaders, thank you and congratulations on the way you have demonstrated your leadership qualities throughout the year. We wish you all the very best for your future aspirations

And to the Heidelberg PS staff, thank you for your tireless work and ability to connect with students and their families in order to support them academically, socially and emotionally. Your care and passion for doing what is best for each and every student at our school is invaluable.

Staffing

We are pleased that Ms Monique La Valle will continue to work with us in the 2024 Year 2 class alongside Ms Stef Galvin. Monique has been working in a Foundation class this year and is familiar with the staff, students and school.

We are still finalising some finer details, however, we are pleased to welcome back current Education Support (ES) Staff for 2024. Our ES provide vital support to ensure the ongoing guidance and continuity of teaching and learning for students and staff at our school.
