Farewell
It is with mixed emotions that I contribute to the Whytalla for the final time. After two stints of service, the time has come for me to bid farewell to this wonderful school and community and head home to Banyena.
I am grateful for the support of the students, parents and staff throughout the years. Together, we have achieved many milestones and created lasting memories. I am confident that the school will continue to with its improvement trajectory.
I would like to express my sincere thanks to everyone who has been a part of my time in Edenhope. As I reflect on my time here, I am filled with pride and gratitude and I will value the relationships I have formed and reformed since returning in 2021.
Activities Week & State-wide Transition Day
The school year is wrapping up quickly, with Year 10s finishing this Friday. Students from F – 9 will have the opportunity to participate in activities week next week. On Tuesday December 12th the State-wide Transition Day will be on, with all students from F-7 (2024) participating in a step-up day in preparation for 2024. Our young people have had a number of transition days leading up to the end of the year which sets them up for a positive start to the year.
Awards Night
Next Wednesday our school community has the opportunity to come together to celebrate the many successes our students have had in 2023. It is a great night to acknowledge the hard work of the whole school community. It would be great to see a lot of families there.
Senior Camp
Mrs Stringer and I escorted our 2024 Senior group to Melbourne for a study camp and to provide students with an opportunity to familiarise themselves with the city and the public transport system. It was an early start on Monday, hitting the road before 6am to meet the train at Wendouree Station. Eventually making it to our motel in Carlton in the afternoon, we began our exploration prior to students participating in an Amazing Race around the city. By late afternoon we had some weary students, in need of a power nap before tea at Universal Pizza in Carlton. The day wasn’t finished, with everyone heading to Hoyts to watch the latest instalment of the Hunger Games. We were up an about early on Tuesday to head to Melbourne University for a campus tour and lecture from a current student, Clarissa, discussing her experiences of University life and highlighting the myriad of opportunities for young people at Melbourne University. More walking and trams back into the city to explore Fed Square, the NGV and ACMI before a stroll along the Yarra for a quick bite to eat at the Crown Food Hall. After a bite we went into Holey Moley to get the competitive juices flowing. Students had some time in the afternoon to hit the shops before meeting at TGI Friday for a taste of Americana to celebrate Hunter’s birthday. After a feed it was off to MSAC for a swim in the wave pool and some diving board action. Students were privileged to witness some extraordinary bombing from their leader! It was another late night and by morning students were ready to head home.
