Learning & Teaching/Wellbeing/Faith & Farm
As most of you would know, this year we have been focusing on developing our beliefs around teaching writing. We have been working with Lisa Burman, a specialised Literacy consultant throughout the year and developed our skills, knowledge and understanding around engaging writers and helping to support the development of author's identities and voice. We would like to present our draft of our 'why' behind our thinking that was created collaboratively with the St. John's Staff. The purpose behind this statement is to have an anchor point to continuously frame our Writing pedagogical practices.
Please offer any feedback to Lauren (ldavis@sjfootscray.catholic.edu.au) by the end of the school year. We look forward to hearing from you.

The Year 6 students enjoyed a memorable day at Funfields yesterday, celebrating their Big Day Out. The weather was perfect for spending time in the wave pool, enjoying the multiple water slides and rides available, or taking a risk and trying out the Voodoo ride (it's as scary as it sounds). The Year 6 children spent the day enjoying each other's company, supporting one another when they felt scared and embracing their final days as a group. It was such a special day and this quote from one Year 6 child, sums up the day perfectly "this is the best day, I don't want grade 6 to end".
We hope the children enjoyed themselves as much as we did!
