Term 1, Week 8

What we've been up to...

We're almost at the end of Term 1 - can you believe it! Thank you everyone for your support during your child's first term of Prep! We hope that you get to enjoy some quality time together as a family over the holidays, and that the Easter Bunny finds you all - wherever you may be!

Reminders

Cross Country

Prep children will participate in the Cross Country on Monday 25th March. Please provide consent via Compass and see the event details page for more information. A note has been sent home with each child notifying families of their house colour.

Easter Hat Parade

Prep children are invited to wear an Easter Hat to school on Thursday 28th March for our Easter Hat Parade. We encourage families to be creative and resourceful during the construction process, and hope that you enjoy completing this activity together at home.

Holiday Reading

Please try to maintain your reading at home routine over the holidays. Prep children have learnt a lot of new skills during the Term, and we encourage them to consolidate these skills during the break.

Upcoming Learning

In Literacy, we have now learnt the sounds for Stage 1 and 2. There are lots of different 3 letter words we can now read, make, spell and write. We will spend time next week practising this skill and begin learning Stage 3 sounds when we get back to school in Term 2. To compliment our Topic, we are excited to start reading a different Fairy Tale each week in Term 2 as our 'Book of the Week'.

To finish the term in Mathematics, we will learn about patterns and practise number formation. We will start next term by continuing to learn about patterns with objects and extend this learning to number patterns.

Our Topic next term is Fairy Tales. This topic has been very popular amongst the Preps in previous years and we know it will be no different this year!

Next week in Respectful Relationships, we will celebrate our own personal strengths and talk about 'What does being brave look like?' Next term, we will start the topic 'Positive Coping'.
