Respectful Relationships

Prep Floyd

This week in Respectful Relationships, we read ‘Rose meets Mr Wintergarten’ and identified the emotions felt by the characters in the story. When we finished watching, we drew a picture of how Rose was kind or brave in the story.

Here are some of our answers:

“When she invited him to play the game”

“When she walked past the dog”

“When she was opening the gate, and knocked on the door to give him something yummy to eat”

“When she was knocking on the door”

“She was brave by knocking on the door and being kind to the man”

“When she was going inside Mr Wintergartens house”

“When she was knocking on the door and holding the cakes”

“When she gave him flowers.”

Please see the photos below for our wonderful work!

SWPBS

All students have been working extremely hard to contribute to our Whole School Gugu Puzzle. As we are nearing the end of Term 1, it is clear that we will reach the Level 1 reward- Casual Clothes Day. Students will be able to wear casual clothes on Tuesday 26th, March

Please remember to wear SunSmart clothing and appropriate footwear.

This Week, Prep Mortlock have been discussing our School Value, Respect. We have been talking about the importance of following a teacher's instruction the first time. Students have been working towards earning Gugu stickers for demonstrating this expectation.

Today we held our final meeting for this term. We shared ideas about what we would like to focus on for minor learning area improvement ideas... so keep your eyes peeled for more information on this throughout the year!

Our wonderful Hannah opened our meeting with a hilarious joke:

Q:Why are giraffes so tall?

A:Because their feet are so smelly!

We also gathered ideas from our grades about new lunchtime clubs. The most popular choice for a new club is : LEGO CLUB. We will discuss this during our next meeting and share details of how it will run next term.

Our Indigenous Leaders, in collaboration with our SRC team will be running a 'Wear It Yellow' Day during Term 2, to raise awareness and fundraise for 'Children's Ground', a not for profit organisation that supports brighter futures for our First Nations children. We will keep you posted on dates and details in Term 2!

Harmony Day - Friday 22nd March

Parents are invited to attend the Harmony Day Assembly in the Hub at 9am. This will include a variety of student speakers, an Auslan perfomance and a choir performance. Students who are participating in these items have been notified and a had their final practice today.

As orange is the colour to represent Harmony Day, students are encouraged to wear something orange to school. Students may also choose to wear their traditional/cultural costume to school if they have one. Students who don't have either of these may wear their house colours instead.

Harmony Day is a celebration that recognises our diversity and brings together Australians from all different backgrounds. It’s about inclusiveness, respect and a sense of belonging for everyone. Students will spend the day participating in a variety of cultural activities in their house groups and complete a “passport” to reflect the different cultures explored.
