As we come to the end of Term 1, it is an opportunity for students to reflect on their efforts thus far. Assessments have been completed, camps, retreats and NAPLAN for some. We are proud of the work our students have put in, in their attempt to ‘Strive for Greatness’. Our final assembly for the term provided opportunity to celebrate this term and the various events and achievements. I look forward to hearing of more individual successes that can be commended at future assemblies. The upcoming holidays provide a chance for students to rest, relax and reset. Using feedback provided in class and assessments is beneficial to develop new goals for Term 2. Our Year 6 cohort achieved success recently on their retreat day, which involved conquering heights during rock climbing and ascending the 1000 Steps in Ferntree Gully.

This day provided opportunity for students to develop and strengthen friendships. It also provided them with new experiences, challenges, and adventure. There was a large sense of achievement from the students who stepped out of their comfort zone and completed the various challenges put forth by staff. Over the holiday period, I ask that all families check on uniform for the Winter period, ensuring your child has all the correct items. Correct black leather school shoes are required across the year. A reminder that students should be wearing the correct Oakleigh Grammar socks, and not branded sport socks. I wish you all a restful holiday break with family and friends and look forward to seeing everyone back for Term 2.
