Bodyworks - Year 5/6

Bodyworks for the Year 5 and 6 students. Empowering children to live happy, healthy lives!

In recent weeks, students in Year 5 and 6 underwent the Bodyworks Health and Wellbeing program with Amanda. The aim of Bodyworks is to promote and equip students with the knowledge, attitudes and lifelong behaviours necessary for making informed choices and effectively handling challenges they may face in their lives. Supporting the Health and Physical Education Curriculum, this program gives students the confidence and awareness regarding the functioning of and changes to their bodies over time, along with the development of personal health, wellbeing and safety strategies.

The Year 5 students focused on the different body systems, such as muscular, skeletal and reproductive systems and changes within puberty. The Year 6 students expanded upon their knowledge from last year by exploring pregnancy and babies.

Comments from our Year 5 and 6 students:

'Bodyworks was very informative and had a lot of fun activities to do.' - Sathvik 5D

'It was really fun and I learnt a lot of information. My favourite part was deciding if certain facts were true or false.' - Ved 5D

'I liked Bodyworks because it informs and prepares you for when you are older and how your body changes over time.' - Sara 5D

'We learnt so many new and interesting things in Bodyworks. An example would be the 11 different systems in the human body, such as the reproductive system.' – Akira 5B

'It was great learning about our body parts and why we need them. We also took a quick look at the differences between the male and female body. My favourite part was when we were able to ask questions to Amanda.' – Tyler 5B

'Bodyworks inspires children to be curious about the human body. Students begin to discover changes in their bodies and it can be quite a shock. Amanda explains why this happens to help students feel a bit more comfortable. I would recommend this fun program for 8-16 year old students.' – Felicia 5B
