Welcome to Term 2

The music program is off to a busy start in Term 2 with the ANZAC day service, Grade 6 Information evening and our first big concert for the year. The Autumn Concert will feature all the school ensembles and is the first for our new students in junior band and junior strings.

Term 2 always finishes with the East Gippsland Music Festival with all the schools in the district coming together for four days of rehearsals culminating in a concert. This year we are excited to have the festival in Orbost at the new Community College.

It was great to see the students back in the music centre last week catching up after the holidays. A reminder that all ensembles are up and running and students need to attend.

A huge congratulations to Cooper this week for his magnificent rendition of the Last Post at the ANZAC day service. We are very lucky to have such an accomplished trumpeter to perform this piece.

Performance attire

As we head towards our first big concert for the year, student need to think about their music uniform. For the first concert, all senior ensembles wear the red music shirt with black pants or skirt and black socks or tights and black shoes. This is a formal concert so we would like students not to wear jeans, tracksuits or shoes with white strips. If students choose to wear a skirt, they need to wear black tights and be mindful about the length.

There are a few black pants, skirts and shoes in the music centre looking for a good home. Any students interested, see Mrs Green.

For this first concert the Junior ensembles (Junior Band and Junior Strings) will need to wear their very best school uniform. The red shirts will be ready for the festival at the end of term.

Instrument hire forms

There are still a few outstanding instrument hire forms. These were posted to families last term so please return them to the music centre as soon as possible. Any queries may be directed to Kim Green in the music centre.
