Book Borrowing Statistics for 2025 - Stage 2

Continuing from last week, we will review borrowing statistics from this year. This week’s focus is on Stage 2 and their borrowing habits throughout 2025.

Stage 2

Stage 2 students began the year with impressive borrowing numbers and maintained a wide and frequent reading habit. This dedication earned them the title of 'Most Books Loaned by Students.' Over the course of the year, Stage 2 students borrowed a total of 15,502 books from across all areas of the library.

Below is a breakdown of the year group totals:

  • Year 3: 7,573 books
  • Year 4: 7,929 books

As you can see, it was a close competition, but Year 4 students ultimately claimed the title of best borrowers this year. We hope their enthusiasm for borrowing continues as they move into Year 5 next year. Congratulations to all of Stage 2! They borrowed approximately the equivalent of our entire library collection, plus around 300 additional books. Let’s now take a closer look at the breakdown for each pod.

Year 3

Examining the individual pod figures, it’s clear that our Year 3 classes are avid readers! The volume of books, texts, and words they have engaged with is fantastic.

  • Reef Pod: 2,669 books
  • Coral Pod: 2,481 books
  • Eucalyptus Pod: 2,423 books

It was a tight race, with all three pods borrowing over 2,000 books each, but this year’s top pod is Reef. Congratulations to Reef Pod and to all Year 3 students for their outstanding efforts!

Year 4

Below are the borrowing statistics for Year 4 pods. We have split Sea Pod into Sea 1 & 2 and Sea 3 & 4 to provide a more detailed view:

  • Eucalyptus Pod: 1,889 books
  • Sea 1 & 2 Pod: 2,941 books
  • Sea 3 & 4 Pod: 3,099 books

A huge round of applause to all of our Year 4 students for their impressive borrowing numbers, especially Sea 3 & 4, who recorded particularly strong totals in 2025!

It’s truly inspiring to see our Stage 2 students embracing reading from all sections of the library. Nearly every student arrives each week with their library bag, ready to return books and set off on a new reading adventure, whether that’s an exciting story or an informative non-fiction book that broadens their understanding of the world.

Mr. Matthews and the library staff would like to sincerely thank all parents and carers for supporting our students’ reading journeys. We look forward to sharing even more reading experiences with your children in 2026.

Next week, we will examine Stage 3, including a final look at Year 6 before those students head off to high school.

Until then, have a great weekend and keep on reading!
