Acting Principal Update

Dear parents and carers,
Transition to 2026
Next week, we are excited to host our ‘Meet the Teacher’ session on Tuesday, 9 December, where students will have the opportunity to meet their 2026 classroom teacher. This date also coincides with the Statewide Transition Day for many of our Year 6 students, who will be visiting their new secondary schools to meet their teachers and begin their transition journey.
Behind the scenes, we have been working hard to secure a fabulous team of educators who will support your child’s academic growth and wellbeing in the year ahead.
In 2026, all classes will be located in the BER (current junior building), with air conditioning being installed over the holidays. We are hopeful that all building works will be completed by the start of Term 1, providing our school community with fresh, updated learning spaces which will be very exciting for us all.
School Values
INTEGRITY – RESILIENCE – PERSONAL BEST – RESPECT – KINDNESS
Focus Value for Weeks 9 and 10: PERSONAL BEST
Striving for personal best is an important part of learning for our students, as it helps them develop confidence, resilience, and a strong sense of responsibility for their own growth. Focusing on personal improvement, rather than comparing themselves to others, encourages students to celebrate progress, embrace challenges, and learn from mistakes. This mindset not only supports academic achievement but also builds lifelong skills such as perseverance, goal setting, and pride in effort.
We extend our congratulations to the following students, recognised for demonstrating outstanding kindness during Weeks 6 and 7:
- Eilidh, Jasmine C, Matilda and Mila
Our week 8 and 9 personal best award winners will be announced at assembly tomorrow.
3-6 Phillip Island Camp
What a fantastic experience our 3–6 students had last week at Phillip Island! It was wonderful to see them challenge themselves and step out of their comfort zones. Camps play such an important role in helping students develop independence and try new things they may not have had the opportunity to experience before. I would like to sincerely thank the Menzies staff and Linda for your hard work and dedication at camp. Your efforts ensured that the students were able to have the best possible experience, and it was wonderful to see them enjoy every moment.
Volunteers Morning Tea
Please don’t forget to join us for our Volunteers Morning Tea tomorrow, December 5th at 11:30am in the BER (junior building), as we celebrate your invaluable contributions to Menzies Creek Primary School. Our students are able to enjoy the very best educational experiences thanks to the dedication, support, and community spirit our volunteers bring. We hope you can join us so we can thank you in person.
Building Works Update
It’s wonderful to see our beautiful school becoming even more stunning as our upgrades progress! Our decks have been sanded, polished, and, where needed, replaced, and our hall is well on its way to receiving new cladding, fresh paint, and a brand-new roof. Next week, the restumping of the admin building will begin. As a reminder, the admin building will be closed during this time, and both Kate and I are now located in the BER, just as you enter the building.
Whole School Water Fight!
This is your chance to grab your water blasters and join in the fun as we soak the students in a whole-school water fight on the oval! This is a community event, and we hope you can come along and join in the fun.
Christmas Event
On December 18th, we will be holding our annual Community Christmas Event, featuring carols, a BBQ, and a range of special treats available for purchase. The event will run from 4:00pm to 5:30pm and we look forward to celebrating with you.
Assembly
Our next assembly will be held tomorrow, 5th December at 3:00pm.
During this assembly, some of our Grade 3/4 students will be sharing highlights from their time on camp.
