Principal's Message

Mr Adam Beilken

Dear Parents, Caregivers, and School Community,

As we reach the end of another busy and rewarding school year at Marangaroo Primary School, I want to take a moment to thank you for your ongoing support and partnership. Our students have grown in confidence, knowledge and resilience, and it has been a privilege to watch them thrive both in and out of the classroom.

This term has showcased the strength of our community. From whole-school events such as the community lunch for mentally healthy week and the colour fun run to classroom celebrations, our students have demonstrated kindness, curiosity and a genuine enthusiasm for learning. None of this would be possible without the commitment of our staff, who continue to go above and beyond to provide engaging, inclusive and high-quality learning experiences for every child.

As we prepare to farewell our Year 6 students and welcome new families in 2026, I encourage everyone to take pride in what we have achieved together this year. Thank you for the way you support your children, our teachers and our school.

I wish all families a safe, restful and enjoyable holiday break. I look forward to seeing you in the new year and continuing our work together to ensure every child feels valued, supported and ready to succeed.

Class Structures and Orientation for 2026

We are still finalising enrolments and admissions for 2026. As class lists remain subject to change, we are not yet in a position to release them. The Administration team returns to work on Tuesday 27 January 2026, and class lists will be posted on the Staffroom windows by 1.00pm on Wednesday 28 January.

To support a smooth start to the year, we will continue the Open Classrooms and Meet the Teacher initiative introduced this year. This will be held on Friday 30 January from 2.00pm–3.00pm. Families are warmly invited to meet their child’s teacher and drop off booklist supplies during this time.

Planning for 2026

Kindergarten enrolments for 2026 are still open. We currently have 14 students enrolled for 2026, leaving space for 6 more children. If you or someone you know has a child turning four before 30 June 2026, please visit the office to collect an enrolment pack.

The administration team is well into planning for the 2026 academic year. If you are looking to leave Marangaroo Primary School at the end of the year, can you please inform the school as soon as possible. This will enable us to identify classroom structures and plan for staff placement.

School Board

In our last newsletter, we invited nominations for School Board positions available in 2026. As no nominations were received, we are extending the nomination period. A nomination form is attached to this newsletter.

If you are interested in joining the School Board, please return the form either in person or via email to Adam.Beilken@education.wa.edu.au. If we receive more nominations than positions available, an election will take place in the final week of the school year, with successful applicants notified before the end of term.

Book Award Assembly

Last week we celebrated our annual Book Award Presentation Assembly. Each class did a fantastic job with their performances, showcasing songs from across the decades. Congratulations to all our award recipients on their outstanding achievements.

eRideable Ban in Public Schools in 2026

The safety of students is our priority and under WA laws, only individuals aged 16 and over are permitted to use eRideables or eBikes with the motor engaged.

From 2 February 2026 (first day of Term 1), the Department of Education is introducing a ban on the use and storage of eRideables and eBikes on public schools' grounds by students under the age of 16. This ban supports student safety and aligns with road safety laws.

Please be advised that from Term 1 2026, if a student under 16 brings an eRideable or eBike on Marangaroo Primary School grounds, the device will be confiscated, and parents/carers will be phoned to collect the device.

Basketball, Tennis and Netball Court resurface

You will have noticed that this term we were fortunate enough to have our courts resurfaced and repainted for use for Basketball, Netball and Tennis. This was made possible, thanks to an election commitment from Mr Daniel Pastorelli MLA, Member for Landsdale. To celebrate the opening of our brand-new courts, we held a teacher versus student's netball and basketball game last week. A lot of fun was had by all.

Student Achievement

Over the last week, our Year 6 students have attended orientation sessions at their respective high schools. Three of our students, selected for the Elite Sports Program at Girrawheen Senior High School, have been participating in extension sessions throughout the term.

At the program’s concluding ceremony, Preston Smith was awarded the Duop Reath Ambassador Award for his effort and sportsmanship. We are incredibly proud of Preston—congratulations on this outstanding achievement.
