Art & Technology

Art & Technology News
The Art & Technology Domain finished the year with a bang, with the annual Art & Technology Showcase occurring on Thursday 5 December.
We had a great turnout for the exhibition, which featured the work of 7 local primary schools as well as our own students.
The audience voted on categories from Prep through to VCE in Art, and 7-12 in Digital Technology, Visual Communication, Media and Drama.
There were prizes for all the winners, thanks to our sponsors Zart Art, Eckersley’s and Officeworks, and certificates will be forthcoming.
Thanks to the students at all levels for their wonderful work, for our students who served food and entertained with their musical talents, to the staff who taught all of the lessons leading to the wonderful examples of Art and technology work, and to the parents and local community for coming to support the students.

Product Design and Technology
This year in Product Design, students in Years 7–12 achieved strong academic progress and meaningful personal growth as they moved through the design process.
They developed creative ideas, strengthened practical workshop skills, and improved their problem-solving abilities with growing confidence.
Students produced a wide range of well-crafted products that highlighted thoughtful design choices and solid technical skills.
Their presentations clearly communicated both their process and outcomes.
It has been a rewarding year of innovation, skill development, and accomplishment across all year levels.
Wishing all students and families a safe, enjoyable holiday break, and we look forward to seeing everyone return refreshed for the year ahead.

Music
Another busy period for the Music Department at Scoresby Secondary College with events such as the VET Music Mid-Year Performance Night, the 2025 Instrumental Soiree, Orion Night, the Art Show and several assemblies.
We had two College Bands – ‘Whiplash’ & ‘Why Rats, Why?!!!’ perform at Boronia K-12 Secondary College for their annual battle of the bands with ‘Why Rats, Why?!!!’ taking home the prize for best dressed act.
Our VET Music students successfully achieving their Certificate III in Music Performance, which culminated in our VET Music Tour of two local primary schools, and their year 12 exam.
Our ensemble programme once again expanded now featuring a guitar and drum ensemble while classroom music worked on djembe drumming and guitar.

Digital Technologies
Our Year 9 students developed digital literacy, problem-solving skills, and confidence through both practical and theoretical learning.
They improved document design skills using Microsoft Word, learned how computers store information through binary data, and explored primary and secondary storage systems.
Overall, students demonstrated strong engagement, creativity, and growing confidence in using digital technologies.
Year 8 Information Technology (IT)
The Year 8 IT curriculum has undergone many adjustments, with one of the most significant changes being the introduction of programming.
In the Year 8 IT classroom, students completed the Traffic Light System project, a miniature model designed to imitate a real-world traffic light control system.
This was delivered as a Project-Based Learning module. Students began by learning project management, practising how to form a team, create a Gantt Chart, and identify the required materials. They then learned how to design an algorithm and represent it using a flow chart.
By using TinkerCAD, students simulated the operation of the traffic light to verify the accuracy of their coding and circuit design.
In the final stage, they built the physical project themselves using recycled materials.
Through this project-based learning approach, students developed collaboration skills, deepened their knowledge and technical skills, and built a solid foundation for more advanced Digital Technology learning in Years 9 and 10.
