A Strong Start for Our New Students at De La Salle College

Seven students have joined De La Salle College this year, and from their very first days on campus, the boys have shown enthusiasm, curiosity, and a genuine willingness to embrace the opportunities available to them.

Supported closely by their classroom teachers, Learning Support Officers, and the wider school community, each student has settled in with confidence. They have enjoyed meeting fellow students, forming new friendships, and becoming part of the vibrant life of their new College.  They have also enjoyed seeing Brad Carmody as a member of staff at their new school.

A highlight of their early experiences has been participating in their Alliance geography excursion to the city, where they explored some of Melbourne’s most iconic cultural locations, including the National Gallery of Victoria, Regent Theatre, Hosier Lane, ACMI, and the Arts Centre. This excursion allowed the boys to learn collaboratively, ask questions, and deepen their understanding of the world around them.

The boys also proudly represented their respective houses at the annual House Athletics

Carnival. Their participation, effort, and sportsmanship demonstrated their growing sense of belonging and commitment to school life.  The boys also gained first, second, and third ribbons across a variety of sports such as Discus, 4x100 Relay, High Jump, and Shot Put.

The boys are looking forward to their next House Sports Day - Swimming in March.

Parade College

Ricky Henda, who has joined Parade College this year as a Year 10 student undertaking the VCE Vocational Major (VCE VM) program. Ricky has made a strong and enthusiastic start to his time at Parade, already embracing new opportunities, forming friendships, and stepping confidently into this next stage of his learning journey.

In just a short time, Ricky has settled in beautifully. He has enjoyed meeting his classmates, connecting with new peers, and exploring his wider world beyond the classroom. On his very first weekend after joining Parade, he even headed off on a fishing trip to Geelong with new friends - an experience that has already become a memorable highlight of his return to MITS

Ricky has also shown tremendous commitment and maturity in navigating the demands of his VCE VM pathway. Twice each week, he bravely takes on the challenge of early morning starts to attend Trades Days at the Bundoora Campus. His willingness to rise early, travel, and fully participate in hands‑on learning reflects his motivation and strong work ethic.

We are proud of the positive and proactive way Ricky has begun his time at Parade College. His openness to new experiences, willingness to connect with others, and dedication to his vocational studies already show the makings of a successful year ahead.

We look forward to supporting Ricky as he continues to grow, learn, and thrive within our Parade College community.

364 Homework

We’re excited to kick off another year of learning and connection with the return of MITS Homework Sessions for 2026. As students settle back into Melbourne life, these sessions provide a supportive space to establish strong routines, reconnect with peers, and receive guided help from staff, and volunteers.

The beginning of the school year is a crucial time for students to rebuild relationships, strengthen their confidence, and find their rhythm in the classroom and boarding environment. Homework Sessions play an important role in this transition—offering structure, encouragement, and a safe place to ask questions.

This year, the program continues to focus on Respect, Courage, Culture and Care, ensuring every student has what they need to thrive academically and personally. From literacy and numeracy support to time management and study skills, the sessions help set students up for success throughout Term 1 and beyond.

We’re proud to see students returning with enthusiasm, ready to learn, connect, and make the most of the opportunities ahead in 2026.

MITS and BrainyCo Collaboration

In 2024 MITS Senior Fellas House students teamed up with Rebecca Ball from Brainy Co to co-design the bold new ‘Deadly Brain’—, a standout addition to the BrainyCo. Collection, that showcases their way of feeling, thinking and doing, their unique cultures, their totems and landscape, and their creativity and leadership. The fellas ideas shaped every part of the design, where they could share their stories, which resulted in a powerful addition to the Brainy Co Collection that celebrates pride and deadly excellence.

The design captures elements from different student stories and images.

Circles: represent people gathering

Lines: connection to Community (pandanus weaving) and Country

Tracks: forging a pathway through life and reflecting totems

Colours: Connecting to the world, and the rising sun that brings life

Dots: representing multiple Communities and people in Australia

Year 10 CGGS camp

This week, our Year 10 students, Shaylen and Latia, headed off with their cohort to the Mornington Peninsula for their school camp with Camberwell Girls Grammar School. So far, the girls have done stand up paddle boarding, snorkeling, fishing and still have much more to see and do. We look forward to hearing all about it when they return.
