Wellbeing Corner

We’re very excited to welcome all students back to Richmond Hill for 2026! A focus for our wellbeing team in Term One is physical wellbeing, with all new students seen by our GP – Dr Thanuja – for a comprehensive health check. We also have ear checks planned for the end of this term, to ensure that all our students in Year 7 and 8 have healthy ears.
With a lot of new students entering MITS in Year 7, we acknowledge the experience of homesickness, and work with students to ensure they’re still feeling connected to family and home as much as possible, while in Melbourne. We have loved seeing all the photos up in students’ rooms, learning about home, family and Country. With our older students, it’s been great to catch up on important events over the holidays, and help them settle back into boarding, and in the case of our Year 9s, settle back in to new school environments.
In the MITS classroom, we are focusing on Emotional Literacy and Emotional Regulation – working with our students to identify their feelings, and what helps them to feel strong during hard times. We’ve loved reconnecting with our friends at Headspace, who are continuing to run lunch-time activities every fortnight with our students, and visiting our boarding houses once a month.
