Letter from our School Council to David Howes, Deputy Secretary of Education
Dear David,
I hope you are well.
Re: Recognition of Outstanding Support from DET and School Leadership
On behalf of the Camberwell Primary School Council, I would like to express our sincere appreciation for the support provided to our school by Andrew Moore and the wider DET team during recent weeks. His steady, thoughtful and responsive leadership has been invaluable, and we are grateful for the clarity and confidence he has brought to a sensitive period for our community.
We would also appreciate it if you could please pass on our thanks to Terry and the DET Communications team for their timely, thoughtful advice. Their guidance has helped us navigate a sensitive period with clarity and confidence.
Further acknowledgement is deserved by Damien Hanwright and the Provision and Planning Team, whose expertise has been crucial for a school located within a designated Activity Centre and facing complex infrastructure pressures.
Most importantly, we would like to use this opportunity to highlight the exceptional leadership of our principal, Janet Gale, and her leadership team. Janet continues to guide Camberwell Primary School with integrity, calm judgement and a steadfast commitment to student wellbeing and academic excellence. The thoughtful staffing and budgeting decisions she and her team have made this year have placed student needs at the centre of every choice—something the School Council deeply values and fully supports.
We are especially appreciative of Janet’s leadership in advancing and strengthening our bilingual education program, which sits at the heart of our school’s identity. Her vision in this space continues to enrich learning opportunities for students and provides a strong foundation for the school’s future direction.
Finally, we would like to acknowledge our outstanding teaching staff at CPS, who embody the school’s values every day. Their professionalism, care and dedication create a nurturing and respectful environment where students feel safe, known and motivated to achieve their best. The positive culture they foster is felt by our students, our families, and the wider community.
Thank you once again for the leadership and support provided through your team. We greatly appreciate the partnership and look forward to continuing to work together.
Wishing you and your team a restful and happy holiday season.
Warm regards,
Elaine Ko
