Start of the Year

Remember, on Tuesday and Wednesday afternoons you will need time to sort resources.

Phone calls to family

Please send an email to let families know a timeframe of when to expect your call. If you are unsure of the email wording, please reach out to Janet, Kim or Nancy.

Suggested phone call script:

  • Hello, we are just ringing quickly to say hello as we are looking forward to having xxx in our class and to working with you as partners in supporting xxx in 2026.

I am/ we are Madame X and Mr X... and we've been at CPS for x years... We are really passionate about teaching and love teaching in a bilingual setting.

We hope that you and the family have enjoyed the summer holidays and are keen to be back at school.

We know that xxx is interested in / works well in / has excellent capabilities in... and are keen to support them in their learning.

Thank you so much for your time... sorry it's such a quick call but we will have the opportunity to meet you in person at our Year Level Information Session in week 4.

If you would like more ideas about what to say, please see Janet, Kim or Nancy.

Staff Handbooks

We do our best to document all of the 'need to know' information about our school. To ensure a productive team, it is important that you are familiar with their content. Here are the updated documents:

2026 - CPS Staff Handbook - Accountability

2026 - CPS Staff Handbook - Organisation

2026 - La Guide Pédagogique (a new version will soon be available)

Who To Go To

Sub School PCOs have changed:

  • Nancy : Junior Sub School PCO
    • learning, social and emotion behaviours are identified in the early years
    • applications for DI are more likely to occur in the junior years
  • Janet: Middle School PCO
  • Kim: As Curriculum and Pedagogy Leader,  Kim will be working directly with Julian, Jonte and Florie and thus it is more logical that she is familiar with their practice and their teams.

Professional responsibility - mandatory: signing in and signing out

Please put on an alarm if you know that you tend to be forgetful re signing in.

I will speak to those who found signing in challenging last term.

The expectation is that everyone signs every day and if you leave the school grounds for a coffee or for lunch, you sign out and sign in once more.

This is a basic professional responsibility which is part of what we are paid for.

Leave

Requests are coming in for Long Service Leave (two terms in advance) and you need to be aware that no more than one English teacher can have leave at a time, and again, only one French teacher can have leave at a time.

Long Service Leave is a right and is accommodated where possible.

Leave Without Pay is not a right.

We have holidays and your travel arrangements are to be organised during these times. Please do not book tickets in the days before a holiday period and your leave will not be approved.
