Bayside Dance Off
One Dance team from Year 1 & 2, Year 3 & 4 and Year 5 & 6 will be selected to represent Black Rock PS to compete against other Bayside primary schools. Students are to organise their own teams, with 2 to 6 students per team. No solo acts. The dance is expected to be original with only the students choreographing their own dance - no outside help please. The dance is to be limited to dance steps only - no gymnastics, etc. We suggest you use the 2025 concert choreography as a guide for the type of dance.
The music is to be a maximum 2 minute clip available on You Tube. Appropriate music please.
Students will be selected on the basis of 3 categories - Choreography, Costumes and Stage Presence. Note that for the auditions, students can audition in their basic costumes. It is not expected that a full and elaborate costume is used in the audition. Use 2025 concert costume design as a guide for auditions.
Auditions are to be held the week commencing Monday 17 November at school depending on year level - see details above. Teachers will make up the judging panel. Finalists to represent BRPS at the Dance off will be announced soon early wc 24 November. The final will be held at Hampton PS Friday 5 December.
We ask that parents ensure that the music chosen is appropriate for primary school. For those teams who will be travelling to the final, we also ask that parents be potentially available to transport students to and from Hampton PS. A COMPASS event notice requiring consent will be issued to the parents of those finalist teams. There is no charge for this event.
