October is historically the time for our Mini Vinnies to promote SOCKTOBER - a fundraising opportunity led by Catholic Mission. It's during this time students learn about the Pope's international agency in Australia and how we can contribute to this great cause. The agency works with communities to support local projects in education, healthcare and spiritual care.
Socktober invites Australian students to engage in 'Faith in Action' to support children in need. At the heart of the program is the sockball, made from recycled materials, which symbolises the real and often difficult challenges many children face each day. It's a simple yet effective way for students to connect with the experience of others and make a meaningful impact.
The students created this sockball in their classes to then participate in a school 'kickoff' that will be held next week.
Students are encouraged to wear unusual socks and bring along a gold coin donation for the fundraiser this Friday 24th October.

The month of October is a holy one for various reasons. It is the month of the Rosary and as such, I invite you to join me, staff and students in the Chapel on available mornings to pray the Rosary.
I also alert you to some recent information that I have received:
The Pope’s Prayer Intention for October was released last week. The theme for this month is ‘For Collaboration Between Different Religious Traditions.’ Pope Leo XIV invites us to pray "that believers in different religious traditions might work together to defend and promote peace, justice and human fraternity."
At a time marked by conflicts, the Holy Father recalls that religions must be "bridges and prophecy," and not "weapons or walls." His October prayer intention arrives as we celebrate the 60th anniversary of Nostra Aetate, the Declaration from the Vatican II Council that transformed the Catholic Church's relationships with other religions, opening the path to dialogue and collaboration. In a fractured world, the Pope encourages us to be "yeast of unity," open to recognize that we are "brothers and sisters, called to live, pray, work, and dream together."
On October 4, 2025, the feast of St. Francis of Assisi, Pope Leo XIV signed his first Apostolic Exhortation, Dilexi Te, which means "I Have Loved You". The document is expected to focus on poverty and the poor and will be presented on Thursday, 9 October, at 11:30 at the Holy See Press Office before being released.

What a fabulous day we all had last Thursday with Andrew Chinn. The students and staff thoroughly enjoyed themselves singing and dancing to the well known tunes. Each year level participated in the workshops along with the creation of a small school choir who led the whole school in the afternoon concert.
Thanks to all the parents and family members who attended the school concert in the afternoon. I am sure you too were impressed with the performance and enthusiasm of our students.
Enjoy the images below.

Stay courageous & hopeful.
