Principals Report

Principal's Report
And just like that – we are into Week 3! We have a great fortnight ahead with the continuation of our Yr5 Kinder visits, several excursions and different experiences here at school. Our Yr5 students who will become our 2026 FIRE Carriers, and our current Yr6 FIRE Carriers, have an excursion to Boat Rock on Thursday – thank you to Madonna and Miss Foutain for their organisation. On Friday we will send teams to the Regional Basketball in Shepparton. The following Wednesday (29/10) we send a team to HotShots Tennis and next Friday we celebrate Child Safety and Awareness with our Day for Daniel. On this day we will invite our students to wear red as we promote Child Safety Education and Awareness. Students will take part in an activity or experience that promotes this cause. Next week we have the Australian Dental Van visit.
Sunday’s Gospel (Lk 18:1-8) explores prayer and asks should our words in prayer always be ‘nice’. Not according to Sunday’s parable! Jesus is clear that we should bring our real selves to God – our real emotions, our real desires. Maybe God can see our situation more clearly, maybe other people are impacted in different ways and maybe God knows there are deeper desires. In this way, we are called to be real in our prayers and persistent in our actions for what is right.

We’ve recently become aware that some students may be accessing social media platforms and viewing content that is not suitable for their age. As a school community,
we take cyber safety seriously and want to ensure our students are engaging online in safe, respectful, and age-appropriate ways. We encourage parents and carers to:
• Talk regularly with children about their online activity
• Set clear boundaries around screen time and app usage
• Check privacy settings and monitor content
• Encourage children to speak up if they see something upsetting or inappropriate
To support families, we’ve included helpful resources on cyber safety in the Quicklinks
icon on SIMON. We invite you to explore these tools and continue the conversation at home.

And finally, it was so great to see lots of families attend Sunday morning’sWalk4BrainCancer around Chinamen’s Island. Such a great cause that sadly affects too many people in our community. Our Sacred Heart team raised $566!
Have a great Week 3 everyone
Take care and God Bless,
Jarrod
