What an exciting week it has been in Primary! On Monday afternoon, I had the great pleasure of announcing our 2026 Primary School Captains and Vice Captains.
Congratulations to our Captains, Annabel Higginson and Evie Ball, and our Vice Captains, Maddie Wade and Bonnie Gomersall. Dr Jackson and I were so impressed by the group of students who applied for leadership positions and shared their speeches. We’re really looking forward to working with the whole Primary Leadership Team in 2026.
I just wanted to keep parents in the loop about some upcoming national changes to social media use for kids. From 10 December 2025, children under 16 won’t be able to create or keep an account on most social media platforms. There is helpful information available on the eSafety Commissioner’s website for parents of older primary students about how this change may affect them and how to prepare. https://www.esafety.gov.au/parents/social-media-age-restrictions
We’ve seen a huge improvement in appropriate phone use at school since introducing the phone pouches at the start of the year, thank you for your support with this. Just a reminder that if your child brings a mobile phone to school, it must be turned off and placed in a locked pouch upon arrival and can be unlocked at the end of the day. For students with new phones, Mr Harrison and I have spare pouches available if needed.
We were also excited for our Compassion launch day on Tuesday 11th November which marked the beginning of our partnership with Compassion Australia. Our students had the opportunity to learn more about how this organisation supports children around the world and how they, too, can make a difference through kindness, prayer, and service. As we step into this partnership, we are reminded of 1 Peter 4:10:
“Each of you should use whatever gift you have received to serve others, as faithful stewards of God’s grace in its various forms.”

Year 3 Musical Try-Outs
Music is a key part in the overall academic development of children. Playing an instrument has many proven benefits including enhancing creativity and memory, developing social skills, and building confidence.
This week our Year 3 students were introduced to new musical instruments as part of their entry to the 2026 Year 4 Music Program. The students were keen to try their hand at something new, eagerly working their way around the four music stations.
Professional tutors from the Riverina Conservatorium of Music and our Head of Music, Mr De Villiers, introduced the students to a range of instruments including clarinet, trumpet, trombone, saxophone and flute, assessing their ability and suitability for each instrument.
Volunteers from Year 11 and Year 12 ably assisted the 'try-out'.
We look forward to future performances by these budding musicians.
