Welcome back to Term 4!

It’s been great to see our Year 7 students return refreshed and ready to finish the year strong. This term will be filled with exciting learning opportunities, as well as important activities that build teamwork, confidence, and essential life skills.

A key focus for the start of the term is our Year 7 Swimming and Water Safety Program. Next week students will participate in lessons designed to strengthen their swimming abilities and water confidence, develop stroke techniques, and learn vital lifesaving skills. These sessions form part of their assessment and are an important part of our Health and Physical Education curriculum. Regardless of the students experience, the program caters for all ability levels and was supported by qualified Austswim instructors.

Upcoming in Term 4

In the coming weeks, students can look forward to a variety of engaging classroom learning experiences, team-building activities, and opportunities to reflect on their growth throughout the year. As we move closer to the end of the school year, Year 7 students will complete their final assessment tasks in mid-November, followed by a Feedback and Skills Week designed to help them consolidate their learning and prepare for the transition into Year 8.

This will lead into our Headstart Program, where students will begin working with their 2026 classes and teachers. Headstart plays a vital role in ensuring a smooth transition into the next year—it allows students to become familiar with new expectations, routines, and subject areas, setting them up for success from day one in 2026.

To celebrate the end of the year, students can look forward to the College-Wide Celebration Day at Gumbuya World and the College Awards Ceremony, recognising the effort and achievements of our students. We also have two onsite activity days planned to finish the term with fun and connection, and I strongly encourage students and families to attend the College Arts Night and Kurnai Got Talent Grand Final, where we’ll showcase the incredible creativity and talent within our school community.

We’re extremely proud of how far our Year 7s have come and look forward to another fantastic term of learning, growth, and celebration.
