Friday 4th April: 9am Easter Bonnet Parade (gold coin donation money towards Royal Children's Hospital)

🌏 CBL Coming up challenge (home task to complete by Thursday 27th March)

This week we will be celebrating the connections we have made this Term. We will be eating our lunch together with a new Grade 1 or 2 friend. This week your child will receive a blank social story on Showbie. There is more information about this that has been sent by email. This needs to be completed at home with assistance if needed and brought back by Thursday, week 10. Your child will need to upload it back on Showbie and bring their iPad each day.

📚 Phonemic awareness: reading and phonics

Grade One Students

 📖✏️Literacy

Mentor Text: The Squirrels who Squabbled by Rachel Bright 

When exploring our mentor text we will be looking at the rich vocabulary that is in the story. Students will continue to grow their knowledge about verbs and past tense. They will also expand their knowledge of synonmys (especially of the word said) to expand their vocabulary when speaking and writing. 

 

What can you do at home?

-When reading stories together notice any interesting words and discuss its meaning, ask is it an adjective, noun or verb? Ask: do you have a text to text connection between any other stories?

-Chat and notice any interesting nouns and adjectives around you

-Read your take home book and record how you went with your reading 

 

➕Maths

Grade One and Two students will be continuing to explore shapes. We will be making various shapes, comparing them and describing their features. 

 

What can you do at home?

-Find shapes in your environment, what do you notice? can you describe the shape? 

-Continue to skip count by 2s, 5s and 10 orally when counting objects
