What's Happening in Performing Arts?

Hello, my name is Paula Di Ciocco, I am the Performing Arts and Italian teacher at Mackellar Primary School. Music has been a very important part of my life. I really enjoy playing guitar and singing and I am grateful to share my creativity and passion for music, and my Italian cultural background with my students.

Term one has been a wonderful opportunity to explore performing arts in an energetic, exciting and encouraging environment to learn various styles of music, culture and drama performances.

The Grade Preps have been learning about Nursery Rhymes and singing the songs to the actions. We also performed “You Are My Sunshine” at the Harmony Day performance for assembly. We have enjoyed reading the story about Pinocchio with drama games and we also had Pinocchio the puppet visit us.

Grade 1/2 – Students enjoyed playing with the percussion instruments and rhythm to the song, Lion king.  We performed the Ballo del qua, qua. The Duck dance for Harmony Day performance at assembly. We also explored drama plays and performed in front of the class in small groups, The Three Little Pigs and Goldilocks and the Three Koalas.

Grade 3 / 4 – This term we have explored various styles of music and percussion instruments. We learnt the song, Stand by Me and incorporated percussion instruments for rhythm. We performed the traditional Italian cultural dance, Tarantella for Harmony Day at assembly. We explored the Carnevale comedy drama play and made Carnevale masks.

Grade 5 /6 – We have been singing the song, Volare, Let’s Fly by Dean Martin. We performed, Volare for Harmony Day at assembly. We explored the Carnevale comedy drama play and made Carnevale masks

Looking forward to many more performances in the future.

Ciao for now,

Miss Di Ciocco
