School Lunches

Canteens, Healthy Eating and Other Food Services: Policy | education.vic.gov.au

The DE mandates that schools provide healthy eating options and principles.  The consumption of healthy foods and drinks has a wide range of positive benefits for student health and learning.  Policy states that parents, teachers and students should work together to support a whole-school-approach to healthy eating and build a school culture which supports students to choose nutritious foods and drinks and a healthy lifestyle.  Whilst Mackellar aligns our canteen options with this policy, it does not apply to student lunches and snacks brought from home.  However, we are asking families to consider the nutritional value of foods being packed from home and ask that fast food and sugary drinks be avoided during school hours.
