Falls Creek Mountain Bike Interschools

On Friday 21st March, 6 of our students entered in the annual Mtb Interschools Race held at Falls Creek, hosted by Falls Creek Primary School in conjunction with Falls Creek Resort Management.

It was a typical Falls Creek day, cloudy, rain showers, sun, slight wind which made the tracks wet, sticky, quite muddy and a few fun puddles to fly through.

Each of our students rode their track course 3 times and there overall time was recorded.

A few students improved on last year's times with pbs ranging between 4:57 - 1.13 minutes.

Division 5 we had Cooper and Hugo

Division 4 Females we had Goldie and Queenie

Division 4 Males we had Sebastian and Griffin.

To finish off the race component we had JP(Jarrod) and Claire enter the parent/teacher Race. All the kids love seeing their parents/teachers Race and get behind them with lots of support: loud cheering and encouragement from track side.

Bright P-12 took home the trophies again this year, keeping it in The Alpine Shire.

Thank you to Team Mount Beauty and Mt Beauty Soccer Club for the loan of marquees to help keep us protected from the ever-changing weather.

A shout out to JP for stepping in and being our responsible Teacher for the day and to parents helping all our kids have a fun Interschools.

Athletics with Steph

Athletics practice will be ongoing for the remainder of the Term.  These activities lead into athletic disciplines of relay, discus, shotput, vortex(javelin), long jump and triple jump.  The aim is to initiate the student's gross motor and muscle memory in preparation for the Upper Kiewa Cluster Athletics Day hosted by our school next Term.

Lifting and lowering our body, bending at the knees taking note of the difference our lower body contributes to propelling the upper body lift and energy for throwing.

Foreword running using our leg lift loading on takeoff and pushing momentum with "elbow punching" getting those arms up, bent, swinging back and forth.
