Assistant Principal News

Week 9 Greetings:
As we are reaching the end of Term 1, I would like to take a moment to reflect on the exciting events and activities that have taken place over the past few weeks. This term has been filled with memorable experiences, from the engaging start-up program to the wonderful bush dance incursion that brought our school community together. Our students had a blast during the bubble launch, and the Year 5/6 camp was a huge success, filled with adventure and new learning opportunities. All of our excursions and incursions were well-received, and it’s been fantastic to see the students actively participating and benefiting from these enriching experiences.
Wishing you all a relaxing and enjoyable break over the holidays. We look forward to welcoming everyone back for another exciting term ahead.
NAPLAN:
This week, we also wrapped up the NAPLAN testing, and I would like to take this opportunity to thank all our families for their support throughout this important assessment period. We are incredibly grateful to all those who ensured their children were at school on time and ready to give their best. The students showed great commitment and resilience, and we are proud of their efforts.
Snapshots from the classroom:
In the classroom, the Year 5/6 students were working on their literacy skills, particularly through a dictation activity. During this lesson, students listened carefully to sentences that featured specific sounds, such as c, k, and ck. They wrote these sentences on small whiteboards and then checked their work for accuracy. It was a fun and engaging way for students to practice their spelling and understanding of phonics, while also developing their attention to detail. We are seeing great progress in their literacy skills, and I look forward to watching them continue to grow in Term 2.
This week, I also had the pleasure of observing our Year 3/4 students uploading their work to SeeSaw. The class has spent a good amount of time focusing on their retelling skills in Japanese Literacy lessons, and it’s amazing to see how fluently they can now retell stories in their own words. During my visit, the students were proudly filming themselves as they showcased their achievements. It was a joy to watch them demonstrate their hard work, and I am sure that parents will be incredibly proud of their progress!
Until next term,
