Message from the Principal
St Peter’s School - an empowered faith community to enrich the world.
Dear Families,
Welcome to Week 3 of Term 3!
I have some very exciting news to share! I received the following information this week from The Hon. Ben Carroll MP, Deputy Premier, Minister for Education Minister, for Medical Research
I am delighted to confirm that your application for the ‘Refurbishment of the Senior Years Building, the upgrade of general learning areas and conversion of the computer lab into a community kitchen and STEAM centre. External works include the development of a garden and seated areas to support outdoor learning and play.’ has been approved for the amount of $1,500,000.00 (excluding GST).
We are so excited to have received this news and what this means for our community. We worked with an architect in 2021 to develop a masterplan and have these initial plans to be working from. Watch this space for more news!
It was lovely to see the school abuzz with conversation and enthusiasm last week as our students confidently shared their learning with you.
Student voice and empowerment is part of our school improvement plan, and the opportunity for them to be able to speak about what they have learnt helps them to develop ownership and confidence around their learning.
We thank all those families who were able to attend and support the learning of hteir children in this way.
We realise there are times that medication is required by students during the day. To ensure the safety and safeguarding of all, it is a requirement that 'An authority to administer medication' is completed by the parent/carer and authorised by an AHPRA registered medical/health practitioner.
We also ask that parents/guardians/carers ensure that medication brought to the school is in its original package with original labels.
We will be celebrating Special Person's Day on Friday 11 October from 2-4pm. Our wonderful P&F will be providing an afternoon tea, so please put this date in your diary. (an earlier date of August 9 has been shared: please delete that date)
What a wonderful celebration we had this week to recognise the contribution to our community from Ms K over her twelve years working at St Peter's. Thank you to all families and past students who were able to drop in to express their gratitude to Ms K.
Some words from Ms K:
I am going to so miss you all so much. I love this school and I am so sad to be leaving. I have loved serving this community and as I leave it, every little part of you will be in my heart- it has been a privilege to do the work I have done here at St Peter's and it has contributed to shaping the person I am today. I thank you all from the bottom of my heart. I have truly been blessed to be part of St Peter's community and parish. Some important words from our Australian Saint Sister Mary McKillop were ‘find happiness in making others happy’.In my time here I have enjoyed working hard to ensure others are happy …and in doing so I have found great joy.
Thank you so much.May God bless and strengthen you.
Nerissa Kinnaird (Ms K.)
This week we recognised the World Day of Friendship. Our PBL values (Responsibility, Resilience, Respect, Safety) ask our students to include others, play fairly, value diversity and use kind words. Every day at St Peter's our students are expected to act like it is world friendship day!
Father, I pray that my words will be used to build up my friends, not tear them down. May my words lift and encourage those I surround myself with. Your Word tells us that life and death are in the power of the tongue. Teach me to speak life. I desire to be an encourager, always lifting my friends and naming the strong traits I notice. I ask for help, believing You will lead me. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
Just a reminder to our Year 5 families that Year 7 2026 enrolment applications for our local Catholic schools are closing on Friday, 16 August 2024.
I hope that everyone has a great week.
