Prep Update
Upcoming learning: Term 3 Weeks 4 & 5.
During the next fortnight, Prep students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:
Reading | Students will learn to recognise the suffix -s which is used for plural words and identify words that have the suffix -s. Students will explore wordless picture books to develop their inferencing skills. |
Writing | Students will learn to recognise and use questions marks in their writing. They will also explore information reports and begin to write simple reports about Australian animals. |
Maths | Students will explore the concept of subtraction using concrete materials and the language of 'one less'. |
Inquiry
| Our topic this term is Australian Animals. Week 4- Students will learn about monotremes (echidnas and platypus). Week 5- Students will learn about our native birds. |
Social and Emotional | Students will learn to identify the feelings people can have when they are around violence or are the target of violence. |
News and reminders:
- Please make sure your child arrives at school on time to ensure they have a smooth transition into the classroom and don't miss the beginning of the learning session.
- Curriculum Day - Tuesday 13th August. No students required at school.
- Incursion - Maybe a Miracle. Friday 16th August. To launch our 2024 Book Week celebrations, all students are invited to attend an incursion featuring shortlisted books for Book Week. Please ensure you have given consent and made your payment on Compass.
- Book Week dress up - Monday 19th August. Come dressed as your favourite book character. In the morning, students will participate in a parade around the basketball court.
- Moonlit Sanctuary excursion- Wednesday 21st August. Please ensure you have provided consent and payment via Compass. If you have any questions, please contact your student's teacher.
