Our Learning

During this fortnight in the 3- and 4-year-old kindergarten, the children have been undertaking learning in the following areas:

Pre-Reading : Drama Toolbox visit to Kinder

: Re-enacting familiar stories through the use of a small world (The Three Billy Goats Gruff)

: Wombat stew

Pre-Writing: Signing themselves in on arrival each day

Discussing the difference between lower case and upper case letters

Exploring letter shapes – circle shape, short line, tall line, slanted line

Making letters and words with the clay/play dough

STEM : Magnets - introducing the language of attract and repel

Know and match number names, numerals and quantities up to 10.

Inquiry : Exploring the Unit of Inquiry: Light has an impact on the world around us

Group discussions on “What is light?” and “Where does light come from?”

Explore light, colour and shadows using the overhead projector, table, fairy lights, and torches.

CD's project: Light, reflections, and shadows.

Social & emotional learning :

Practicing breathing exercises as a calming technique

Listening to different types of music and focusing on how these make us feel

Feelings/emotions: Colour monster and the Zones of regulations.

Long Day Care enrolments with kindergarten is through the ELC office.
