Upcoming learning: Term 3, Weeks 3 & 4

Here is a snapshot of what the Year 2 students have been up to and a sneak peak of what's coming up!

Over the next few weeks, students will be learning about the Olympics and taking part in our Potato Olympics. Students have created their athlete and taken part in a variety of events including shot put, running, relays and hockey. All the students have had an amazing time with lots of laughs!

Reading - Students will be engaging in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. During reading sessions, students will take part learning different comprehension strategies such as predicting, author's purpose, inferencing and answering questions and facts and opinion.

Writing - Students have begun writing their own information reports about an animal or insect. They have researched their chosen animal and insect and have drawn diagrams and written facts to match their pictures.

Maths - Year 2 students have started a block of learning about chance. They have learnt new vocabulary including certain, likely, even chance, unlikely and impossible to describe, to use in different situations. Next, students will look at subtraction and will be provided with opportunity to show their understanding using hands on materials.

News and Reminders:

Library books and borrowing: Each week or fortnight, we visit the library and encourage our students to borrow a book. At the moment, we have most students borrowing, which is great to see.

Jumpers: Students need to come to school with jumpers and jackets. A friendly reminder to make sure they are named clearly with your child's name and class.

Home Reading: We encourage all students to bring their reader bag back each week to change over their books. Please make sure you are recording when your children are reading each night.
