Year 1 Update

Upcoming Learning -Term 3, Weeks 4 & 5

During the next fortnight, Year 1 students will be undertaking learning in the following areas:

Reading	Students continue to engage in literacy activities using the Little Learners Love Literacy program. The focus texts for our reading relate to the Olympics and Fiction. Our digraph focus is the /er/ and /or/ sounds, and the different spelling combinations.
Writing	Students are learning about the Olympic games and writing Information Reports, using synthesising and summarising skills to write facts. They will then focus on Fiction, through narrative writing and learning about contractions. They continue to work on their handwriting daily using the Hartley Program.
Maths	Students are exploring Chance and Data through hands on learning and engaging in Number Sequence activities.
Inquiry	Students are expanding their knowledge of Sustainability and learning about the 3R's - Reduce, Reuse, Recycle and the impacts of land pollution on animals and our Earth.
SEL	Students are engaging in learning activities about Bullying, highlighting the impacts during Bullying No Way Week. They will revisit Respect My Space and My Body to further understand their personal rights.
