Holy Saviour School Bulletin

Dear Families,

What a beautiful week we’ve had this week! We’ve experienced frosty mornings most days, but once that has cleared, we’ve had some beautiful sunshine to enjoy. It’s been nice to have a break from the rain, after spending most playtimes inside last week. The children (and staff!) have certainly appreciated the opportunity to get outside this week.

Prep 100 Days

Today we celebrated a wonderful achievement for our youngest students, 100 Days of School! We had a beautiful assembly this morning where Hooper, Daniel and Liam presented all that they have learned so far this year! They were supported by their Year 1 classmates and have celebrated everything to do with 100 throughout the day today as well as a fun hour with their buddies in the art room! Congratulations to Hooper, Daniel and Liam.

Staffing News

This week I shared news with staff that one of our Learning Support Officers, Mrs Talin Ozcan, will be finishing at Holy Saviour. Talin has been a highly valued member of our school for the past 4 years, however she has made the tough decision to move on from working in education and will be heading into the corporate world. Talin’s last day with us will be next Thursday 8th August. I’m sure you will join me in thanking Talin for all that she has contributed to our school during her time with us, we wish her all the very best for new adventure!

Building Fund for Non-Government Schools grant application

Over the past four years, I have been working to try and secure some government funding to support us in redeveloping the Shared Area and adjoining classrooms. I’m very excited to share with the community that late last Friday night, I received a call from John Mullahy MP to inform me that we have been successful in our latest application! The State Government will be giving us $2,277,738 to complete the full refurbishment of the shared area and classrooms. This grant, along with the generous support and work of Emmaus, will see us with almost a brand new school to start the 2025 school year. John visited us at our assembly this morning to share this news with the community.

A draft of the plans are below, and we are working busily with the architects to get this project up and running as soon as possible. More detailed plans and renderings will be shared with the community once they are finalised.

Emmaus College Junior School - Family Information Evening

Thank you to all the families who joined us on Wednesday evening to gather together and hear all about our plans for 2025. We had just over 150 people attend from across Holy Saviour, St Timothy’s, and new enrolments. It was a great opportunity for families to meet and have a chat, as well as checking out the new renovated areas. As Karen mentioned on Wednesday, I will be continuing next year as Director of Junior Campus. I’m looking forward to working with the Emmaus College community as we embark on this new adventure.

Olympic Celebration Day - Tuesday 6th August

This Tuesday 6th August, we will be holding a special Olympics Celebration Day at school. The students will participate in some exciting Olympic-themed learning activities throughout the day. Everyone is invited to wear GREEN and GOLD to support our Aussie team. We look forward to a fun day for all!

Book Week - Reading Is Magic

One of our favourite weeks in the school calendar is finally here....Book Week!  This year's theme is 'Reading is Magic'.  We will once again be holding our Book Week Dress Up Day and Costume Parade on Wednesday 14th August, 9am. Children are encouraged to come dressed up as their favourite literary character from a magical place or perhaps a character from a book that inspires them. So get creative and have fun with your costumes!

Father's Day Stall

The SAC will once again be holding a Father's Day Stall on Thursday 29th August.  Gifts will be available for Dads and Granddads and all gifts are $7. Payments may be made via CDFpay.

Father’s Day Breakfast - Save the Date!

On Friday 30th August, we are inviting all children to celebrate Father’s/Special Friends Day by having breakfast at school with their dad/special friend. If for some reason the children’s father cannot attend the breakfast, then we encourage them to invite a significant other male such as their grandfather, uncle or a family friend etc. More details will be communicated next week.

Parent Helpers Needed for Lunch Order Pickups

We are seeking some Parent Helpers this term to assist with lunch order pickups.

Please advise if you can assist with Subway or Baker's Delight Lunch order pickups on a Tuesday or Friday Morning.

Both stores are located at the Vermont South shops and all that's required is to collect the orders from the stores and drop them off to the school anytime before lunch (1.30pm).

Thank you to the families who have already agreed to assist.  If we have enough families volunteering then a roster can be devised and it will only be a commitment of couple of dates  per term.

Please email the office if you are able to assist.

School Tours & Open Days

Since the announcement of the Emmaus College P-12 beginning next year, I have been swamped with school tours! Our previously organised Open Days have now finished, but we have scheduled some new dates for Term 3. Please feel free to share the following with anyone you know who wishes to enrol at Holy Saviour/Emmaus College:

  • Tuesday 13th Aug - 9.30am
  • Wednesday 14th Aug - 4pm

Prep 2025 Enrolments

We have had great interest in Prep for 2025, as well as other year levels, and we’ve had a good number of enrolments come through already. If you have a child who is eligible to start Prep in 2025, please submit your enrolment at your earliest convenience. This will enable us to develop a clear picture of classing and group sizes for 2025. Enrolments for 2025 are to be made through the Emmaus portal
