Year 3 & 4

In celebration of the 2024 Paris Olympics the Grade 3s and 4s looked at Australian artist Bernard Ollis, particularly focusing on his collection depicting views of Paris. When looking at his work we discussed Parisian architecture, landmarks and made comparisons to Melbourne. We also talked about his technique adding layers of oil pastels and using curved lines to express movement and a sense of joy. Using Ollis's works students captured the essence of Paris using their imagination and architectural clues.

Year 5 & 6

Year 5 and 6 students have been exploring the works of Jean Michel Basquiat. They discussed his signature motif, the three pointed crown, and discussed its significance in his work. When creating students were encouraged to be inspired by Basquiat and his art.  For this piece students used acrylic paint, paint sticks and oil pastels to create layers, texture and depth to their work. Some students created artworks that spoke to a topic or an issue and others focused more on the composition of their piece.
