School Fiesta - how to get involved!

Dear Families,

The 2024 St. Mary's Fiesta promises to be a fun event for all, and will rely heavily on parent and family volunteer input.  The Fiesta Committee has put together some FAQs to help those wanting to get involved.

Friday 22 November - SAVE the DATE!!

What is Fiesta?

The biannual St. Mary’s Fiesta is a major event bringing together families and the local community for an evening of fun and friendship while raising much needed funds for school enhancement.  2024 Fiesta will include rides, food, music, stalls, dunking station, raffle, online auction and more.

Key 2024 fund raising goals include

  • Contribution towards the first stage of St Mary’s new Master Building Plan – this vital work will ensure the contemporising of learning spaces and ensure the sustainability and longevity of our historic buildings
  • Basketball Court refurbishment
  • Playground upgrades and improvements
  • Infrastructure
  • Creativity and Innovation Hub (STEAM and Creative Arts space) enhancements

How can I get involved?

The Fiesta Committee is a subgroup of St. Mary's Parents and Friends, coordinated by Sarah Connolly and Tom Connell.

Each year the Fiesta has several stalls such as face painting, lolly stand, lob a choc, wine wall and so on.  Each class group will be allocated a stall to run, and we will need parent volunteers to lead the charge.  More information to follow, but if something takes your interest now please email fiesta@smascotvale.catholic.edu.au

The Committee has a number of important roles remaining, including:

Volunteer Coordinator - help coordinate the many helpers in the lead up and on the night

Stalls Coordinator - key point of contact to ensure stall holders are supported and we have consistency across each area

Donations Coordinator - key contact for receiving donations (we usually receive a large volume from our generous community and want to ensure we keep records of these and thank everyone).

Ticketing Coordinator - rides will be via pre purchased tickets; this role will work through logistics of sales and coordinate the fiesta welcome tent.

You will be part of an established and committed group, sharing ideas and tasks and making the Fiesta a great success.

Grandparents - if you have a particular talent such as knitting, crafting, baking or preserve making we would love to hear from you!

Sponsorships

Sponsorship opportunities remain open with 1 Gold, a number of Silver and community sponsorships still being made available.  If you or any business that you might know of could avail themselves of this great marketing opportunity, please pass it on and have them email:  sponsorship@smascotvale.catholic.edu.au

What else can I do?

Please read our Fiesta news in school newsletter, see Audiri for regular updates, chat to any of the committee or contact fiesta@smascotvale.catholic.edu.au if you have any ideas or other ways you would like to support the event.

Fiesta will only happen with  your support- so please do get involved and make 2024 the best Fiesta yet!

Thank you,

St. Mary's Parents and Friends Committee
