Hello Families,
We are so excited to share with you all that we have got up to over the last week. Both Ellie and I (Swaye) are so happy to be back at the service making the most of every morning and afternoon!
Week 4 – ‘Mexican Fiesta’
This week has been everything Fiesta themed. The children have had so much fun trying new activities and also falling back into some of their old favourites.
We started off our week on Monday making our very own Cinco De Mayo (Day of the Dead) masks. The children worked diligently outside under the lovely afternoon sun colouring in and personalising their mask to their likes. We then took to laminating them to make them thicker before punching a hole into either side and tying it up with some string. As soon as this had been finalised it is safe to say there were many excited masked children running around the playground. It was fascinating to see how despite having the same ‘base’ to colour in, every child had mask special to them.
Our fun continued into Tuesday where the children enjoyed what could arguably be their favourite afternoon tea snack (Fruit and Pizza Scrolls). After enjoying their food many children chose to finish off/make a new mask from Monday. Other children found fun in the sandpit. However, the highlight of the afternoon had to be the outdoor stage. Many children were up there eagerly dancing to their favourite Disney songs. It is amazing to see the children’s confidence shine when they do something they love.
On Wednesday, the fun just kept going and we couldn’t stop laughing and smiling! The children worked together to help design St Mary’s TheirCare Administration Diary front cover entry. Every Term, individual TheirCare’s get a chance to design the cover, and one is selected and used as the front cover for the next term. It was amazing to see the children’s creativity shine through the activity, I think we have a good chance at securing a possible win!
The excitement of the week buzzed us into Thursday quickly. The children attending BSC saw a lovely sunrise before getting stuck into some Cinco De Mayo colour by numbers. In particular this colour by numbers had a taco and a sombrero on it. In the afternoon, we are hoping for some lovely weather so that we can spend some time outside playing a range of group activities and games.
We are looking forward to finalising our Mexican Fiesta theme this Friday. In particular we are hoping to spend some time turning ordinary popsicle sticks into fiesta related things/items. After speaking with some of the children they are hopeful to make popsicle stick cacti so I think this is what we will try first. We can’t wait to tell you all how it turns out!
Sun Safety
Being in Term 3, we would like to reassure all parents and guardians that we closely monitor the Temperature and UV Rays before engaging in outdoor play and Hats are worn as required. Further to this we continue to ensure that sunscreen is always applied, if your child requires a specific sunscreen, please do not hesitate to let us know so that we can accommodate for this!
Many Thanks,
Swaye and Ellie
