Learning In My Level

A celebration of what's happening across the school!

Level 1

Wow! What an amazing start to term 3 Level 1’s had! Our water Incursion, excursion to the aquarium, 100 days of school celebrations and the mini Olympics are just some of the highlights of our term so far.

Hands-on Science incursion

During week 1, students had a Hands-on Science incursion where they learnt about how water is used for many different purposes and not just for drinking. The Level 1 students put on their thinking caps and participated in several group challenges. They should be very proud of themselves for how well they worked together and for their fantastic predictions.

100 days of school

Following on from the incursion excitement, Level 1’s reached their 100 days of school milestone! To celebrate their achievements, students made their own hats and participated in special activities throughout the day. We also feasted on some yummy food that the students and their families worked hard to prepare. So many smiles (and crumbs..) to be found everywhere!

 Aquarium

On Wednesday the 31st of July, Level 1 students packed their bags and headed off to the aquarium for a fin-tastic day! Highlights of the experience included seeing the penguins, a huge crocodile called Pinjarra and the 4D movie experience. Thank you so much to our parent helpers for coming along and helping to make the day even more special.

 In the classroom

In between all our exciting events, the Level 1 students have been working really hard in the classrooms. They have written many recounts about their adventures and information reports on sea creatures in writing lessons. In Mathematics, the students have been extending their place value knowledge through the participation of many engaging games and activities.

We cannot wait for what the rest of term 3 brings!

Level 2

During week 1, students enjoyed exploring the unique properties of water and its importance to life on Earth. They created a model to collect fresh water from salt water, observed capillary action in plants, and conducted chemical tests to detect pollution in water samples. This fantastic incursion encouraged students to predict, observe, and reflect on their findings.

Grade 2 students recently enjoyed an exciting excursion to the Melbourne SEA LIFE Aquarium. They marvelled at the diverse marine life, from colourful coral reefs to majestic sharks. Interactive exhibits and informative presentations deepened their understanding of ocean ecosystems and the importance of conservation. Back in the classroom, students have continued to learn about marine animals and practiced writing information reports.

Some Grade 2 students had a blast at Hoop Time, a fun basketball clinic with lessons and games. They practiced dribbling, passing, and shooting with help from friendly coaches. The kids also played some exciting matches, showing off their new skills. It was a great way for them to get active, learn teamwork, and enjoy playing basketball together.

We had a fantastic school dress-up day and assembly to celebrate the Olympics, with each grade representing a different country. Students came in colourful costumes, proudly showcasing their chosen nations. In class, we took part in a mini-Olympics, linking the activities to our math lessons. The students practiced measuring and comparing different lengths through fun athletic events like paper plate discus and cotton ball shot put.

We’re excited about the fun events coming up: the Yarra Valley Water incursion, the book fair and parade, Father’s Day, and Billy Cart and Footy Day. It’s going to be an amazing term!
